Despite the fact, working from your couch in PJs may sound fun, it comes at a certain price and most often that is our productivity. Having the temptation of not making effort with our appearance, waking up later than usual or putting on the telly while doing a report may cost you way more than you think.

Working from home can be great- only if you learn how to do it the right way. Follow the habits below to get the perks of homemade lunch and no commute without sacrificing any quality work.

1. Get an early start

If you find yourself with some extra time in the morning… don’t make the mistake of using it to sleep more. Wake up early. Take a shower. Do some yoga. Make breakfast. Use the time for yourself. Have a refreshing positive routine and set the day right.

2. Get dressed up

It is tempting to jump straight out of bed and work in your PJs but this may actually have a real negative effect on your productivity. The way we dress subconsciously affects our behaviour and attitude. If you neglect your outfit, you are more likely to get easily distracted and feel lazy! It is much more important than you think it is.. so just dress up for the job!

3. Set the goals for the day

Make sure you stay on top of your work by having a clear vision of what needs to be done. Get your notebook and put in the most important tasks to do today and start off with them. Leave all the insignificant and less urgent for the end of the day.

4. Schedule your breaks

It’s easy to get lost in your work when you are working remotely with no social distractions. Although it is super important to have some quality focus time, do not forget to take some time off. Go for a walk, make a cup of coffee, do some stretching. Refresh and then go back with a clear mind. And put them break slots in the calendar, for god’s sake!

4. Clean up your workspace

You would probably know by now how important it is to have a delegated work area. Equally as important is to keep this area tidy and clean. Set 5min at the end of the work day to wipe unnecessary files off your desktop, put the notepads and folders at their place and wash that mug from the morning. You know what they say, clear space- clear mind.
